Apartment in Rome

The apartment in Rome, located in Via Carlo Pascal n. 5, is a one-bedroom apartment with a living room, kitchen, bathroom, walk-in closet, and roof garden with barbecue, umbrella and chairs. The apartment is designed around the garden-terrace, with one side consisting of the kitchen and the dining-living room, opening to the garden with French doors, and the other side featuring a bedroom with a whole side made of glass, once again with door and windows opening to the garden.

The bed is a king-sized bed and in the living room there is a double bed sofa to accommodate guests. The appliances include stove, refrigerator, washing machine, and radio. Hot water and heating system are independent from the rest of the building and adjustable to personal needs.

The apartment is completely furnished, including linens, towels, tablecloths and kitchen towels. The kitchen is furnished for a good cook and close to one of the most beautiful open food markets in Rome.
The building was built in the 50's and it is located at 10 minutes walking distance from the Vatican Museums. The apartment is alone at the top the building on the seventh floor, with an elevator to the sixth floor. The space is extremely quiet, safe, and private. Public transportation is just around the corner from the building and comfortably connects you with all parts of the city.

Siglinda on Rome:

“Fellini used to say that, 'Roma is an opulent prostitute: Colorful, arrogant, thoughtless, generous, and able to laugh at all human miseries.' I agree to some extent. To get to know Roma you have to breathe the Roman summer sunsets and nights, but I believe that nobody ever described and talked of Roma with more passion and understanding than Pier Paolo Pasolini. In fact, I strongly suggest if you haven't done it yet that you would read at least one of his books. My favorites are Una Vita Violenta (A Violent Life) and Ragazzi Di Vita (The Ragazzi).

Roma is one of the most fascinating cities in the world. I love the Tiber Island, Trastevere, and Borgo Pio (the old part of the city near the Vatican). The flea market, Porta Portese, is open on Sundays from 6 am to 2 pm. Campo de Fiori is one of the finest open food markets in the city. I adore pausing for a cappuccino and cornetto in one of the cafes by the market and then buying fresh bread, fish, mozzarella, prosciutto, fruit and vegetables to go home and cook a great meal at the table in the garden, with good music and a bottle of cool Frascati wine.

If you are up for a real treat go to 'L'Antica Pesa' in Via Garibaldi near Trastevere. It is the restaurant of the Italian Government Mafia. (Not to worry, they are only dangerous to our people and our country and they always manage to get elected....What is new?!) The food is suberb and the walls are decorated by many of the best Italian painters, they also have a good collection of sculptures. The name of the owner is Pietro, a real street kid.

Just outside of the city, Ostia Antica, Pompeii, and all the Etruscan towns and museums are a must. Having Roma as a home base (in a comfortable apartment where you can rest, can make your vacation a real success), you can explore the Mediterranean shores of Italy, starting from the Sperlonga, a beautifully preserved small town on the coast north of Napoli, and then, south of Napoli, all the way to the tip of the boot -- the old architectural vernacular of the white villages is unique. Also stunning is the village of Capri on the Island of Capri and the little villages along the Amalfi coast -- white, clean, and of extraordinary beauty.”
